· 5 picks
· 2 steals
· 0 reaches
For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Texans walked out of the weekend still thin at edge rusher, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.
Melton falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 23 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper at No. 59 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Christian Haynes at slot 85 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
Max Melton slid further than he should have, and pick No. 123 is lovely value for the cornerback. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They took Will Shipley at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
