Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings answered their biggest question with Maye. Grade: A.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop.

They banked enough surplus on Melton to cover a lot of smaller sins. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

It is a haul that will look even better come September.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · Drake Maye · QB · rank 5
In pick No. 11 they get a long-term answer under center. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.14 · Pick 46 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 26
The board fumbled Jordan Morgan all the way to the 46th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.28 · Pick 128 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 107
Blake Fisher at the 128th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Max Melton · CB · rank 114
Max Melton in slot 148 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R5.18 · Pick 154 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 121
Steal is underselling it; Khyree Jackson at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R5.28 · Pick 164 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 151
The board had Jaylan Ford higher than pick 164, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Chau Smith-Wade · CB · rank 164
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Chau Smith-Wade at Round 6, Pick 4. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Jalen Berger · RB · rank 198
Circle this one: Jalen Berger at No. 216 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Sheridan Jones · CB · rank 214
Sheridan Jones at the Round 7 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
