Of all the ways to open, the Vikings chose the head-scratcher, spending the 130th pick on Cade Stover with edge rusher still wide open. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Bishop pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Quinyon Mitchell in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Bucky Irving slipping to the 101st overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tommy Eichenberg in slot 103 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Cade Stover at TE-EDGE with edge rusher open.
Jordan Travis at the 148th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
