The real work happened on the phones. The Cardinals fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Washington.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
In pick No. 30 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They took Chop Robinson at par in the 35th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Mekhi Wingo in No. 66 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 7. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They let Christian Mahogany come to them and pounced at pick 90. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Leonard Taylor III a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Malik Washington in the 133rd overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
