You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Raiders did exactly that with Nathan Pickering in the Round 7 slot. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The Washington value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They went early on Kingsley Suamataia in the 48th overall pick, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Christian Mahogany at No. 77 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A big swing on Spencer Rattler at Round 3, Pick 33, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No drama and no debate, Ray Davis went about where he belonged in pick 112. It fills a real need, too.
Jordan Jefferson in pick No. 148 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a wide receiver like Tahj Washington reach pick No. 208 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Garret Greenfield at pick 212, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A wild overpay on Nathan Pickering in the 223rd pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nathaniel Watson in Round 7, Pick 9. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
