The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Cam Skattebo, the Round 6 slot, roughly 73 picks past where he belonged.
The whole projection now runs through Cam Ward; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The Nash reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cam Ward. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Taking Nick Emmanwori in pick No. 37 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A minor itch, scratched.
The board fumbled Jihaad Campbell all the way to pick 73, and they scooped it up. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Deone Walker in the 107th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They will replay Elic Ayomanor at slot 142 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Willie Lampkin in the 171st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Fair-plus on Connor Colby, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cam Skattebo in pick No. 187 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
A wild overpay on Nick Nash in No. 212, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Antonio Williams at Round 6, Pick 41 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They talked themselves into Will Lee III at Round 7, Pick 6, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached a country mile for Micah Morris at the 247th overall pick, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
