The Eagles torched the value chart for Tommy Eichenberg, taking him 66 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Spending an early pick on linebacker with cornerback, wide receiver and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
However the rest shakes out, Henderson at that price is a win they earned.
So much rides on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th overall pick they get a green-dot type in the middle, though the board says they badly overpaid. Need was not the driver here.
Calen Bullock at pick 50 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Tommy Eichenberg while clear needs at cornerback, wide receiver and other spots sat open.
Sataoa Laumea in the 97th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Josh Proctor well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
No drama and no debate, Kitan Oladapo went about where he belonged in slot 156. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nice patience on LaDarius Henderson, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 36. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jaylen Harrell at pick No. 178 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy little value on Tatum Bethune in slot 248, a step better than break-even. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
