The Eagles clearly saw something nobody else did in Xavier Thomas, taking him 21 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want. The Tagovailoa pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
By-the-book stuff, Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 54 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 78 with a little surplus value in Johnny Wilson. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Marist Liufau went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
Nice patience on Michael Hall Jr., who had no business lasting to No. 97. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Dillon Johnson in the 118th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had cheaper options than Theo Johnson at the Round 5 slot, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
They paid up for Curtis Jacobs at pick No. 163 when waiting would have done the job. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Roger Rosengarten at slot 178 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
They reached a country mile for Xavier Thomas at the 234th pick, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in No. 243, where Taulia Tagovailoa graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
