For all the boxes ticked, the Eagles skipped the loudest one: interior defensive lineman is exactly as bare as it was.
They will need Harris to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Quinyon Mitchell in pick 20; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cooper Beebe in No. 50. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 53 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Marcus Harris at the 144th pick when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tykee Smith in the 161st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Tahj Washington at Round 6, Pick 7 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Frank Gore Jr. at par in the Round 7 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
