For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Eagles walked out of the weekend still thin at interior defensive lineman, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Getting Wilson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Chop Robinson at par in the 35th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value with a capital V on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in pick No. 50, a genuine coup. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 54th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Javon Bullard in No. 66 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Roman Wilson graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nice patience on Justin Eboigbe, who had no business lasting to pick 137. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
LaDarius Henderson at Round 5, Pick 38 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
