You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Eagles spent pick No. 131 on Cedric Gray while interior defensive lineman and tight end sat unaddressed. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 20th pick they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Jermaine Burton in slot 50, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick No. 53 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
No edge and no loss on Khyree Jackson in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Renardo Green. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 131st overall pick on Cedric Gray with interior defensive lineman and tight end unsolved.
Walter Rouse in the 160th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Luke McCaffrey at No. 171 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They went early on Kendall Milton in Round 6, Pick 3, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
By-the-book stuff, Joe Milton III at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
