Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Eagles came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Robinson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Landing Phillips that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
No edge and no loss on Tykee Smith in pick 97; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Layden Robinson in the 137th overall pick, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at the 156th pick is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jaylan Ford in slot 178 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Andru Phillips slipping to No. 183 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value with a capital V on Eric Gentry in Round 7, Pick 33, a genuine coup. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
