The Eagles lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. It grades a D+, and the process earned it.
They are betting Cole proves the room right and everyone else wrong. With quarterback unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
The Rosemy-Jacksaint pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
No edge and no loss on Edgerrin Cooper in the 50th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
Calen Bullock at No. 74 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A premium they did not need to pay, Brenden Rice a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Christian Mahogany went about where he belonged in the 97th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Theo Johnson in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cedric Gray adds a linebacker and leaves quarterback untouched.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Walter Rouse. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They reached a country mile for Myles Cole at the 171st overall pick, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jordan Jefferson in the 172nd pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Kendall Milton at slot 194 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in No. 210 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
