You can hear the double-takes from here. The Eagles took Joe Milton III at No. 77, roughly 122 spots before his name belonged.
Everything downstream of Bo Nix depends on Bo Nix, and the building knows it. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Washington.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In No. 18 they get a home-run threat at receiver, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick No. 22 they get a franchise quarterback, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
In slot 27 they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Cade Stover in pick 46 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy little value on Roman Wilson in the 50th pick, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach for Zach Frazier in pick 53; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Xavier Worthy at the 59th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Javon Bullard for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board had cheaper options than Blake Corum at the 76th overall pick, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Joe Milton III well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Calen Bullock in pick No. 82 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Zak Zinter at slot 90 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.

A reasonable price with a little left over, Sataoa Laumea in No. 124. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Cedric Gray slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the linebacker. A minor itch, scratched.
Tykee Smith in the 144th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brennan Jackson. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Xavier Thomas at pick No. 150 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing AJ Barner in the 170th pick. It fills a real need, too.

Value said wait; Darius Muasau in the 240th pick says they were not listening. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Devin Leary at No. 245 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
