You can hear the double-takes from here. The Eagles took Joe Milton III at Round 5, Pick 34, roughly 29 spots before his name belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Rosengarten.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a bendy edge with upside, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 50, where Ennis Rakestraw Jr. graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Xavier Worthy in pick 53 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Trey Benson at the 97th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Roger Rosengarten slipping to Round 5, Pick 24 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Joe Milton III in the 170th pick, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid up for Jordan Jefferson at Round 5, Pick 35 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached into another round for Emani Bailey, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had cheaper options than Kenny Logan Jr. at the 240th overall pick, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
