Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Eagles spent the Round 7 slot on Rylie Mills, a name the board had a full 150 spots lower. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Landing Wiggins that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 28 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had Nate Wiggins higher than slot 45, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tyler Guyton at the 60th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid up for Audric Estime at pick No. 97 when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Payton Wilson at pick 137 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
Ben Sinnott in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Miles Frazier in No. 172 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A real head-scratcher, Nelson Ceaser in pick No. 178 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They talked themselves into Josh Proctor at the 195th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Rylie Mills in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
