You can hear the double-takes from here. The Eagles took Trevor Etienne at slot 177, roughly 120 spots before his name belonged. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The Dart pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
A premium they did not need to pay, James Pearce Jr. a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had cheaper options than Donovan Jackson at Round 2, Pick 23, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
Nick Emmanwori at the 86th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trey Zuhn III in No. 92, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Elic Ayomanor well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Jaxson Dart in pick No. 128 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jamon Dumas-Johnson in the 137th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A big swing on Bryson Nesbit at slot 156, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Mykel Williams at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trevor Etienne. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dasan McCullough at Round 6, Pick 30. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
