Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Adonai Mitchell, the No. 32 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 50th overall pick.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get a potential shutdown corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Taking Adonai Mitchell in No. 50 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Fair-plus on Patrick Paul, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Zak Zinter in pick No. 97. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Keith Randolph Jr. in pick 160; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kitan Oladapo at slot 170 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Curtis Jacobs at the Round 5 slot when waiting would have done the job. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
