The Eagles clearly saw something nobody else did in Rylie Mills, taking him 150 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 28th overall pick they get a sticky cover corner, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Keon Coleman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Guyton. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy little value on Bucky Irving in No. 97, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Payton Wilson at par in pick 137, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They went early on Lathan Ransom in slot 156, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Miles Frazier at Round 5, Pick 36 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They reached a country mile for Nelson Ceaser at No. 178, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A real head-scratcher, Rylie Mills in pick No. 249 is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
