Some picks age like wine; Curtis Jacobs at the Round 5 slot will need to, sitting 27 spots clear of his grade. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Johnson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a blindside protector, reach and all. A real need, handled.
They jumped the gun on Kamren Kinchens, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
T.J. Tampa at pick No. 53 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tommy Eichenberg at slot 120 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A reach for Javion Cohen in the 161st pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value said wait; Curtis Jacobs in Round 5, Pick 35 says they were not listening. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Layden Robinson in slot 172 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Cornelius Johnson was still sitting there in the 210th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
