There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Eagles started one anyway for Phillip Webb, 136 picks ahead of schedule.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Carter. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

In the 31st overall pick they get a mismatch in the passing game at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Jalon Walker at pick No. 63 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Taking Tate Ratledge in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kevin Winston Jr. in slot 128 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
