Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles won the night they stopped Sampson from sliding. Grade: B.

Future D

Call it larceny. Dylan Sampson sat on the board until Round 5, Pick 27, and the Eagles did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Adding Myles Garrett by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.32 · Pick 64 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 20
They will replay Jalon Walker at Round 2, Pick 32 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R4.2 · Pick 103 · Omarr Norman-Lott · DT · rank 74
They barely believed it either: Omarr Norman-Lott still on the board at the 103rd pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.28 · Pick 129 · Jake Majors · C · rank 107
Somehow Jake Majors was still sitting there in No. 129, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.27 · Pick 166 · Dylan Sampson · RB · rank 65
Circle this one: Dylan Sampson at slot 166 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.30 · Pick 169 · Barrett Carter · LB · rank 83
Barrett Carter at the 169th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R6.39 · Pick 217 · Jaylen Reed · S · rank 188
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Jaylen Reed in pick No. 217, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
