The Eagles looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Joe Milton III at the 160th pick regardless, 38 picks early. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Jones falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Martin Emerson Jr. gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A conviction pick on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick No. 50 that the board grades a round light. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Kamren Kinchens at pick 53 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jalen McMillan in the 97th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value said wait; Joe Milton III in the Round 5 slot says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nathaniel Watson at the 170th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Jarrian Jones at the 171st overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had Dillon Johnson higher than the 178th pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tahj Washington in No. 189 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jalen Green at pick 240 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
