The Eagles put a flag in the ground for Erick All, 60 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Eichenberg pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 26 they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They jumped the gun on Jeremiah Trotter Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor itch, scratched.
Zach Frazier at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, Mason McCormick at slot 97 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Tommy Eichenberg while clear needs at edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots sat open.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at Round 5, Pick 24 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A real head-scratcher, Erick All in No. 170 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They talked themselves into Jawhar Jordan at slot 171, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Andru Phillips at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Eric Gentry at pick No. 240 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
