Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Eagles spent No. 249 on Taulia Tagovailoa, a name most had 136 spots down the list. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Robinson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 28 they get a disruptor off the edge, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 13 with a little surplus value in Kamari Lassiter. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cooper DeJean at slot 60 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Zak Zinter in the 97th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jason Marshall Jr. in pick No. 145 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Braden Fiske at pick 172, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jamari Thrash at pick No. 177 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A premium they did not need to pay, Michael Barrett a notch or two before his time. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jahdae Barron in pick 209, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Erick All in the 229th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They talked themselves into Taulia Tagovailoa at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
