The Eagles worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

Nobody had Gentry Williams this high, and it is not close. The Eagles reached 101 spots to get him at pick 194. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

The Mondon Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Spending an early pick on linebacker with edge rusher and quarterback open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.31 · Pick 63 · Jihaad Campbell · LB · rank 40
Jihaad Campbell in pick No. 63 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 38
Circle this one: Tyler Booker at the 68th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Harold Fannin Jr. · TE · rank 52
They robbed the room for Harold Fannin Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Tez Johnson · WR · rank 91
Tez Johnson at Round 3, Pick 31 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.27 · Pick 128 · Barrett Carter · LB · rank 83
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Barrett Carter adds a linebacker and leaves edge rusher and quarterback untouched.
R5.23 · Pick 160 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 105
Cam Skattebo at slot 160 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.27 · Pick 164 · Cobee Bryant · CB · rank 185
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Cobee Bryant. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.29 · Pick 166 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 104
A safety of that caliber at the 166th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.2 · Pick 177 · Jason Marshall Jr. · CB · rank 191
They liked Jason Marshall Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in the 177th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.19 · Pick 194 · Gentry Williams · CB · rank 295
Gentry Williams at pick 194 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.23 · Pick 198 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 110
They barely believed it either: Smael Mondon Jr. still on the board at slot 198. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R6.39 · Pick 214 · Jaylen Reed · S · rank 187
Steal is underselling it; Jaylen Reed at pick No. 214 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.40 · Pick 215 · Seth McLaughlin · C · rank 225
A premium they did not need to pay, Seth McLaughlin a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
R7.28 · Pick 244 · Clay Webb · OG · rank 235
They read the board right and Clay Webb was the payoff at No. 244. The roster fit checks out.
R7.40 · Pick 256 · Thor Griffith · DL · rank 286
They reached into another round for Thor Griffith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
