The Eagles did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Mason McCormick fell into pick No. 171. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Zinter has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get juice off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Edgerrin Cooper at pick 50 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
T.J. Tampa in the Round 2 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach on Zak Zinter in the 98th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tommy Eichenberg at slot 161. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Somehow Mason McCormick was still sitting there in No. 171, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. at the 172nd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
