This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Caedan Wallace, the No. 210 name on the board, stolen at the 249th pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Milton III reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
They let Junior Colson come to them and pounced at pick 61. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mike Sainristil. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach for Sataoa Laumea in the Round 4 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had Jacob Cowing higher than No. 161, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good price on Tykee Smith in slot 164, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board had cheaper options than Tip Reiman at pick No. 171, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Joe Milton III at the 172nd overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
