Thirty-one other rooms let Jalen McMillan slide, and the Eagles were the ones holding the card at pick 120. Highway robbery.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. A minor itch, scratched.
They took T.J. Tampa at par in the 53rd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jalen McMillan at slot 120 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had Mason McCormick higher than No. 161, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nice patience on Tykee Smith, who had no business lasting to pick No. 171. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Dillon Johnson in pick 172 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nothing to complain about; Jared Wiley went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
