The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Javon Baker, the No. 91 name on the board, in Round 4, Pick 20.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the 50th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Edgerrin Cooper in Round 2, Pick 21 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 120th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tommy Eichenberg at slot 161 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kitan Oladapo at pick 171 is the proof. It fills a real need, too.
Dillon Johnson in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
