Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Eagles never addressed interior defensive lineman, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
However the rest shakes out, McCaffrey at that price is a win they earned. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for T.J. Tampa in the 50th overall pick, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Junior Colson in Round 2, Pick 21; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They took Blake Fisher at par in No. 120, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They read the board right and Luke McCaffrey was the payoff at pick No. 161. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Dillon Johnson at pick 171 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It fills a real need, too.
Malik Mustapha at the 172nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Good price on Tanner McLachlan in the Round 6 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
