Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Kyren Lacy, the No. 134 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 166.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. The Skattebo reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Walter Nolen at pick No. 32 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Aireontae Ersery at the 64th overall pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid up for Cam Skattebo at slot 96 when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: Jared Wilson at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tight end of that caliber at No. 162 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Kyren Lacy in Round 5, Pick 27 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Lander Barton at pick 169 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
