The Eagles bet big and early on Trente Jones, 23 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Bullard pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Junior Colson went about where he belonged in pick No. 50. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A tidy bit of business in Round 2, Pick 21, where Javon Bullard graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
By-the-book stuff, Beaux Limmer at No. 120 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Nelson Ceaser in pick 161, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reach on Isaiah Williams in the 171st pick; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Trente Jones at the 172nd pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Myles Harden at No. 210 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
