Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Eagles, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. On value alone, Frazier makes the weekend a net positive. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 23 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, and a steal at that.
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a bendy edge with upside at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Edgerrin Cooper. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A cornerback of that caliber at pick 60 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Circle this one: Zach Frazier at No. 92 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Devontez Walker at the 93rd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
James Williams in No. 123 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Theo Johnson at the 126th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Sataoa Laumea slipping to the 129th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Luke McCaffrey in the Round 5 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They did well to land Kitan Oladapo in pick 161, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. in pick No. 171 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
You do not let a cornerback like Ro Torrence reach slot 200 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trente Jones at Round 6, Pick 27 is the proof. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They let Steele Chambers come to them and pounced at the Round 6 slot. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Kendall Milton at the 218th pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
JD Bertrand slid further than he should have, and slot 228 is lovely value for the linebacker. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
