The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Bo Nix, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They will need Knox to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Quinyon Mitchell at the 44th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid up for Brenden Rice at pick 103 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Blake Fisher in No. 112 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Braden Fiske at the 149th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at pick No. 176 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jase McClellan. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached into another round for Trey Knox, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A big swing on Hayden Hatten at the 233rd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
