Las Vegas Raiders

Best value of the weekend goes to the Raiders for Abrams-Draine: D-.

Somebody took the Raiders to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

The Milton III pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. On value alone, Abrams-Draine makes the weekend a net positive. They went 8 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Olumuyiwa Fashanu · OT · rank 10
A clean, defensible pick in pick 13 with a little surplus value in Olumuyiwa Fashanu. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Byron Murphy II · DL · rank 43
A straight-up fair deal on Byron Murphy II at the 44th pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · T'Vondre Sweat · DL · rank 60
They paid sticker price for T'Vondre Sweat in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 78
By-the-book stuff, Cooper Beebe at No. 77 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Dillon Johnson · RB · rank 116
They took Dillon Johnson at par in the 109th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Malik Washington · WR · rank 117
Malik Washington in slot 112 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 119
No edge and no loss on Darius Robinson in No. 113; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.15 · Pick 115 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 104
The board had Khyree Jackson higher than slot 115, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.23 · Pick 123 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 131
They went early on Cedric Gray in Round 4, Pick 23, and the value did not follow. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R5.3 · Pick 139 · Kris Abrams-Draine · CB · rank 118
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Kris Abrams-Draine in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.14 · Pick 150 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 162
A reach for Joe Milton III in pick No. 150; a little patience would have been rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.17 · Pick 153 · Theo Johnson · TE · rank 146
Good price on Theo Johnson in pick 153, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · De'Corian Clark · WR · rank 195
No drama and no debate, De'Corian Clark went about where he belonged in the 188th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.14 · Pick 234 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 222
Value with a capital V on Steele Chambers in the 234th pick, a genuine coup. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
