The Eagles did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Renardo Green fell into the Round 4 slot. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Trotter Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a red-zone target to build around at a price that makes it sweeter.
Tyler Nubin slipping to No. 50 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at slot 53 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Renardo Green in Round 4, Pick 20 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Xavier Thomas in the 161st pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Caedan Wallace reach pick 171 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jarrian Jones at pick No. 172 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jaylen Harrell at the 210th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
