When the story of this class is written, it opens with Jaylen Harrell at the Round 6 slot, a reach of 22 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Washington. Adding Tyler Higbee by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a lockdown presence outside, reach and all. Need was not the driver here.
Kris Jenkins in the 42nd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
DeWayne Carter in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malik Washington at No. 130 is the proof. It fills a real need, too.
Javion Cohen at pick No. 148 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Kitan Oladapo at pick 160 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Grayson Murphy in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jaylen Harrell in pick 179 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They liked Nathaniel Watson enough to skip the value, taking him in the 230th overall pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
