Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Eagles came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Davis.
Jefferson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get juice off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Javon Bullard at Round 2, Pick 21. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Edgerrin Cooper in No. 56. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Theo Johnson at the 120th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Luke McCaffrey at pick 161 is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid up for Jordan Jefferson at slot 171 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They read the board right and Isaiah Davis was the payoff at the 172nd pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Steele Chambers slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
