The board owed the Eagles one, and it paid up: Jeremiah Trotter Jr., the No. 59 name on the board, sitting there at the 97th pick like a gift left on the doorstep. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get juice off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Quinyon Mitchell in the 50th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Amarius Mims at the 54th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick 97, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Cedric Gray in slot 160 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
A tidy little value on Justin Rogers in No. 170, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in pick No. 171, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Joe Milton III in the Round 6 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 240 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
