The search is over. The Vikings handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
Reaching for Jones left real value on the table behind him. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get the arm they will build around, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Byron Murphy II in pick 42 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Jacob Cowing in pick No. 108, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Tommy Eichenberg at slot 130 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid sticker price for Javion Cohen in No. 148, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
