The Eagles spent real capital to be 20 picks early on Matthew Jones, and the board is going to hold them to it. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a lockdown presence outside, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ja'Lynn Polk. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper at No. 54 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
No drama and no debate, Tykee Smith went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Braelon Allen at par in Round 5, Pick 24, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
LaDarius Henderson in the 170th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Grayson Murphy at the 171st overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on Jaylan Ford in slot 178; it is a wash and a sensible one. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
A wild overpay on Matthew Jones in Round 7, Pick 20, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
