The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Kalen King, slot 161, roughly 22 picks past where he belonged.
They will need Gore Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 26 they get a ballhawk on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Edgerrin Cooper at Round 2, Pick 18 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Worthy at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cole Bishop in pick 120 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kalen King in the 161st overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Sione Vaki at the 172nd pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
They jumped the gun on Frank Gore Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
