Boards are made to be trusted, and the Raiders shredded theirs for Dwight McGlothern. He came off 38 spots early, and the room will hear about it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Wilson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
JC Latham in the 13th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
J.J. McCarthy in No. 44 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
They read the board right and Payton Wilson was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 13. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They went early on Jarrian Jones in slot 113, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kamal Hadden at pick 147. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reach on JD Bertrand in pick No. 190; the board had better options right there. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Trevor Keegan at No. 221 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A big swing on Dwight McGlothern at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
