The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Devin Neal, the 116th pick, roughly 32 picks past where he belonged. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick-by-Pick
They will replay Emeka Egbuka at Round 2, Pick 9 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jonah Savaiinaea slipping to pick 55 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Aireontae Ersery in pick No. 60. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Alfred Collins at slot 86 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: Barrett Carter at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Devin Neal in No. 116, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Donovan Jackson at the 118th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
