This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Omarion Hampton, the No. 30 name on the board, stolen at pick 66. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The cost of the Farmer reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver, and a steal at that.
Omarion Hampton in pick 66 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Joshua Farmer at the 97th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Taking Kevin Winston Jr. in slot 140 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Connor Colby at the 161st overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
