They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Michael Penix Jr. is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop.
The Barrett reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.

In the 7th pick they get their quarterback of the future. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A conviction pick on T'Vondre Sweat at No. 42 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kris Abrams-Draine in pick 108 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A real head-scratcher, Darius Robinson in the 128th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A wild overpay on Michael Barrett in the Round 5 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A minor itch, scratched.
Jaylen Harrell at Round 5, Pick 27 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
