You build a draft on nights like this. Roger Rosengarten had no business being available in pick No. 171, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The McCaffrey reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Chop Robinson at par in the 22nd pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Troy Fautanu at pick 55 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value with a capital V on Payton Wilson in No. 66, a genuine coup. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They read the board right and Max Melton was the payoff at slot 90. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cole Bishop at Round 4, Pick 20 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A conviction pick on Luke McCaffrey at the Round 5 slot that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mason McCormick at the 161st overall pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Roger Rosengarten was still sitting there in pick No. 171, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
