The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Kalen King, pick No. 165, roughly 26 picks past where he belonged. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a mismatch in the passing game, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Darius Robinson is a better player than No. 50 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kamari Lassiter at Round 2, Pick 21. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value with a capital V on Zak Zinter in pick 120, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
They will replay Kalen King at the 165th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nothing to complain about; Dillon Johnson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
They let Walter Rouse come to them and pounced at pick No. 172. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Garret Greenfield in the 210th pick, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board fumbled Steele Chambers all the way to Round 6, Pick 43, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
