You build a draft on nights like this. Xavier Worthy had no business being available in No. 110, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Payton Wilson in pick 61 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They read the board right and Ricky Pearsall was the payoff at the 69th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Cole Bishop at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled Xavier Worthy all the way to slot 110, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Matt Goncalves in the 120th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 25 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Malik Mustapha at No. 171 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
A clean, defensible pick in the 172nd pick with a little surplus value in Dillon Johnson. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tykee Smith is a better player than the Round 5 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value with a capital V on Joe Milton III in pick No. 210, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
